How to use Hi China

Hi China is a Shanghai-first guide for planning a trip to China. This page explains what is published here and how to find and check the addresses, dates, sources and booking details that matter for your visit.

Find places and read the details

Use the search box and the category links above to narrow the places listed on this page. Choosing a category changes the list in place, and clearing the filters returns to the full list.

Each place page gives the name and any known Chinese name, the address in English and Chinese where it has been recorded, admission information, and the sources behind those details.

Addresses come from the linked source where one is recorded. When an address has not been confirmed the page says so instead of guessing, and the map view shows the recorded area reference for that place.

Check dates, prices and bookings

Opening hours, admission prices and booking conditions change over time. Read the date beside each item and follow its linked source before you rely on it for a specific day, and re-check close to your visit.

Where a detail could not be confirmed from a source it appears as an unresolved note rather than a recommendation. Treat an unconfirmed detail as something to check, not as a fact.

Some place pages also link the source video that mentioned them. A timestamp link opens the original video at that moment; it is not a substitute for the admission source, so confirm prices and booking steps on the linked official page.

Plan with the map, blog and FAQ

The Shanghai map searches the same reviewed places by name, address and category, and opening a place there shows the same detail page as the list.

Start with the first China trip checklist, then use the Alipay guide to set up a foreign card before you leave. The blog has more focused planning guides, and the travel FAQ answers common payment, entry and arrival questions with official sources and a source-check date.

For mobile data, the eSIM section explains how to check your phone and set up a plan before you travel, with the referral disclosure shown beside the provider link.

Look up a venue by name

The venue directory lists every published place alphabetically, so you can find one by its English or Chinese name without browsing the map. Each entry links to the same place page used by the search results and the map.

Addresses, admission details and sources live on that one page, so an entry opened from the directory and one opened from the map describe the same place.

What this site covers

Hi China starts with Shanghai and adds places as they are reviewed, so a category can be empty while review is still in progress and an empty list means nothing is published for that view yet.

Every published claim is tied to a source or marked as unresolved. The site does not invent reviews, ratings or first-hand visits, and nothing here replaces an official source for your own dates.

If a detail looks wrong or a linked source has changed, contact the editors at info@hichina.fun; corrections use the recorded source so the change can be checked.
